Hackathons
As part of the Design Upgrade initiative, Urban Mill in collaboration with KFund and Creative Brussels is organizing an Online hackathon on 28-30th of August 2020. European Design Upgrade program will include three stages starting with online courses from mid-June onwards, leading to a hackathon at the end of August after which best teams will get a chance to get visibility as part of Dutch Design Week in October 2020.

Virtual Hackathons
Virtual Hackathon Dates: 28-30 August 2020

The goals of hackathons:
- Focus the attention of project teams on the most essential tasks of European design
- Organize the exchange of ideas and gaining experience of creating projects in cross-functional teams
- Develop new concepts and ideas for projects/prototypes with the support of international experts
- Select the best projects for participation in the European exhibition “Dutch Design Week”
The main objective of this hackathon is to build the bridge between participating creatives, designers, and startups. It will promote both creatives and designers and support them on a path towards entrepreneurial mindset while enhancing their business understanding and promote the use of creative contribution in startups and thus develop their offerings further.
During the hackathon creatives, designers and startups get to work together with real-life use cases brought up by the selected startups from Finland, Belgium, and Ukraine.

Prior to the hackathon, Ultrahack will organize a team formation session for registered creatives, designers, and a separate matchmaking session to connect teams and participating startups and EDU program will organize

The deadline for proposing Startup challenges is 29th July, midday, 2020.
For Hackers
The deadline for designers and design-minded people to register in the hackathon is the 10th of August, 2020. You can create your own team or join as an individual.
For Mentors
Mentors are chosen from EDU Experts and 10-15 additional experts. Constantly updated list of mentors will be completed before the 11th of August, 2020 at EDU site: https://edupgrade.design/en/our-team/
